The final line-up for the X Factor live shows has been revealed after Rita Ora and Nick Grimshaw chose their top acts in a nail-biting programme.

Rita was given a helping hand by American songstress Meghan Trainor to pick her favourite three – and selected Louisa Johnson, 17, Lauren Murray, 25, and 18-year-old Kiera Weathers.

While Grimshaw picked badboy Mason Noise, 21, Che Chesterman, 19, and Australian 24-year-old Seann Miley Moore.

Having picked her three finalists, Rita said: "It was the craziest journey but now it's up to the public."

They will join Cheryl Fernandez-Versini's groups 4th Impact, Alien Uncovered and Reggie n Bollie, and Simon Cowell's overs Anton Stephans, Max Stone and Bupsi in the live shows.

Bookies Coral were quick to declare Johnson as the favourite to be crowned winner of this year's show.

She is the 9-4 favourite with girl group 4th Impact second favourites at 5-1, while Chesterman and Moore are at 11-2.

There had been emotional scenes at Rita's judge's house in LA.

Monica Michaels gave a powerful rendition of a song she wrote about her teenage brother, who drowned last year just 18.

Breaking down in tears after she sang, she said: "Last year about six days after the six chair challenge my brother drowned. He was only 18. I just wanted to sing a song for him."

Standing up to give her a hug Ora said: "You should be so proud." But she didn't make her final three.

Grimshaw's decision to pick badboy Noise, who was briefly kicked off the show after a dramatic row with Cowell, proved controversial.

The audience began booing and had to be told by host Caroline Flack to stop.

Grimshaw said it was tough to whittle down his acts, telling viewers: "It is a really brutal part of the show. Even though I've made my decision it is still heartbreaking."

Asked why he picked his trio, he said: "I wanted people who I thought knew who they were as artists. Che has got one of the best voices I've ever heard, Mason is a superstar."

And nodding to Moore he said: "You don't meet people like this every single day."
