Rita Ora has opened up about her (30-second long) appearance in ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’, insisting that she wasn’t hired to play Mia Grey because of her star status.

In actual fact, Rita went up against a number of other actresses, and won the part after auditioning for the role.

During a chat with InStyle, she explains: “I said I'd love to be involved as I was such a fan of the book. And then Sam [Taylor-Johnson, director] said, 'Well, why don't you audition?'

“And I said, 'Sure...I've got a few song ideas, I could send them over...' and she said, 'No, why don't you audition for the movie?'”

"I auditioned like everybody else - there were a lot of other people in the frame,” she continues. “I didn't get any special treatment. I perfected my American accent, one thing led to another, and I got it.

"And I was like, 'What?, I've done a bit of acting, but honestly didn't expect to be put into that role. I thought, what have I got to lose?"

Despite the fact Rita and her wig were given their own character poster, it’d be easy to miss the singer’s fleeting appearance in the film, as her character utters just three lines.

Nonetheless, the ‘R.I.P’ singer still struggled to remember them.

“I had to have someone in my ear on set telling me what to say before I said it because I was honestly like so nervous I forgot everything that I had learnt,” she told Access Hollywood earlier this year.
