A man who admitted running over a policeman once nicknamed RoboCop for his work on a city estate will be sentenced for dangerous driving on Friday.
Pc Diederik Coetzee, from Nottinghamshire Police, was hit by a car driven by Mitchel Graham, 26, as he cycled along Blidworth Lane in Nottingham last November.
The 55-year-old, who joined the force in June 2001, was off duty when the accident happened and required lengthy hospital treatment for head injuries.
Nearly 10 months since the crash, Pc Coetzee still receives intensive rehabilitation treatment and is making slow but steady progress.

The Mansfield South beat officer made headlines in 2005 for making hundreds of arrests in a year, patrolling Nottingham's Ladywood estate on his bike.
Graham, of Grange Road in Blidworth, Notts, pleaded guilty at Nottingham Crown Court to three offences relating to the collision, Nottinghamshire Police said.
He admitted dangerous driving, failing to stop after a crash and failing to report the accident.
Graham, who was granted bail, will be sentenced at the same court.
A statement issued by the Coetzee familiy said: "There isn't a day that passes when we don't wonder what life would be like if he had never been hit by that car and suffered a severe brain injury. This type of thing doesn't just affect the victim, it affects their whole family. It has certainly changed our lives completely.
"The most difficult thing to accept is that if people use their common sense as well as observe basic road safety rules, it can be prevented. I hope our father's story will make people think seriously about their behaviour on the roads, encourage them to implement better road safety measures and, in turn, prevent further deaths or injuries in the future."
