Robot Sets Blazing New Rubik's Cube Record

An electronics company has done what seems like the impossible: solved a Rubik’s Cube in the blink of an eye.

The machine, “Sub1 Reloaded” was able to analyse and then solve the Rubik’s Cube in 0.637 seconds. It’s so fast that the footage had to be slowed down to 12x slower just to let the human eye distinguish the individual moves.

”Sub1 Reloaded” had a secret weapon up its sleeve in the form of one of the world’s fastest microcomputers.

The Infineon Aurix is currently used in the numerous processes that are needed for a car to become self-driving.

Thanks to its incredible processing speed the chip is able to analyse the cube, create a set of moves and then carry them out all less than a second.

What might be even more impressive is that humans can actually physically solve a Rubik’s Cube themselves in just 4.9 seconds.

The “Sub1 Reloaded” was able to achieve the record in just 20 separate moves.

The Rubik’s Cube was invented in 1974 by Hungarian sculptor and architecture professor Emo Rubik. It was launched commercially in 1980 by Ideal Toy Corp. More than 400 million Rubik’s Cubes have since been sold.
