The curse of Nike is far-reaching. Lance Armstrong confessed to being a sociopathic bully, doper and cheat in January, Oscar Pistorius will go on trial for the murder of his girlfriend in June and Rory McIlroy has produced the worst sporting acting since Wayne Rooney.
McIlroy has had a pretty miserable time since he swapped Oakley for Nike. His meltdown at the Honda Classic last night was golf's equivalent of Richie Tenenbaum's collapse against Gandhi but the decision by Santander to feature him in the new advert is worse than the Turkish referee's at Old Trafford.
McIlroy 'acts' as like a prisoner of war thrust in front of a camera and is as wooden as a Trojan horse, as Jenson Button and Jessica Ennis lend some superior support.
