On what had been expected to be the most important day of his life, dad-to-be Prince William will be 100 miles apart from nine months pregnant Kate – playing polo.
Which leads us to think: is Saturday REALLY the Duchess of Cambridge's due date, or have we all just been getting a bit too carried away with royal baby watch?
The news emerged this morning when it was revealed that the Duke of Cambridge will be taking part in a charity polo match in Gloucestershire – a couple of hours' drive from where his wife is due to give birth in London.
Although Buckingham Palace had previously confirmed the due date for the Prince or Princess of Cambridge is in mid-July, no set day was given. This means their first-born could be still be a week away.
It is believed Kate will stay in Kensington Palace while her husband raises money for good causes.
Prince Harry will also be playing for the Jerudong Trophy at the Cirencester Polo Club, offering his brother support.
