Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, and Prince William barely had time to settle into Sydney yesterday before they flew to the next stop on their Royal Tour of New Zealand and Australia.

The couple were helicoptered to Winmalee in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales to spend time with the victims of last year's devastating bush fires and have lunch with firefighters who bravely battled the flames.

As with every stage of the tour Duchess Kate looked incredible, dressed in a blue print Diane von Furstenberg dress teamed with Russell & Bromley wedges and her trademark blow-dry.

After posing for for photographs, the Duke and Duchess embraced the waiting crowd, talking at length with local people keen to celebrate their arrival in Australia.

Kate was presented with posies of flowers and knelt down to chat with a group of children excited to meet an actual princess.

With her characteristic warmth, it's not hard to see a likeness between the Duchess' approach to her royal role and that of Prince William's late mother Prince Diana.

The only disappointment of this leg of the tour was sadly Prince George did not accompany his parents!

The royal baby - who truly stole the show when the family touched down in Sydney yesterday - stayed in the city at the family's temporary base Admiralty House with his nanny Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo.

However, fear not - Prince George will be making more appearances with his parents while on the tour but gets to have a few more days off than his parents. Well, being that cute all the time is a tiring business...
