A 37-year-old man has been arrested after footage circulated online of a "petrified" dog being repeatedly punched in a Lancashire street.
A huge appeal was launched by the RSPCA on Monday to trace a man who was filmed attacking what appeared to be an American bulldog.
On Wednesday, the RSPCA announced its appeal had led to a man being arrested, with police advising people not to speculate on the person's name on social media.

The RSPCA posted on Facebook: "Following an amazing response to our appeal for information, regarding a man filmed repeatedly punching a dog, an arrest has been made and the dog has been seized.
"The dog has been checked over by a vet and is recovering well in RSPCA care.
"The response we've had from the public has been absolutely huge over the last 48 hours and we're very grateful for the scale and quality of this response.
"The police have warned people not to speculate on the name of the suspect on social media."
The distressing footage was posted online by the animal protection group on Monday in a bid to trace the man.
The video, filmed by a member of the public in Lancashire on December 10, led to serious concerns for the dog's welfare.
Speaking of the recording which was released earlier this week, RSPCA Inspector Charlotte Booker said: "This was a sustained attack on a dog which was clearly petrified and submissive and which had to be picked up and carried down the street afterwards."
