Appropriate Adult, ITV1's dramatisation of the arrest of serial killer Fred West, has scooped three nominations for the RTS Programme Awards 2011.
The Wire actor Dominic West starred in the two-parter as Fred, who killed himself in prison in 1995 after being arrested and charged with eleven murders.
Dominic has been nominated for the Best Actor gong, up against Daniel Rigby for Eric and Ernie and John Simm for Exile.
His Appropriate Adult co-star Emily Watson, who played Janet Leach - West's confidante and the woman appointed to sit in on police interviews with him - has been nominated for Best Actress.
The show's writer Neil McKay has also been nominated for an award.
The drama caused complaints to ITV from some of the families of the victims but proved a hit with critics.
Eric and Ernie, which told the story of Eric Morecambe and Ernie Wise's formative years from child stars to national treasures, is also up for three awards, including Best Actor, Best Writer and Best Single Drama.
Also up for multiple awards from the Royal Television Society's annual ceremony is Ricky Gervais's comedy An Idiot Abroad 2, which is nominated for Popular Factual And Features, and its star Karl Pilkington is up for Best Presenter.
