RuPaul's Drag Race UK's Frock Destoyers Are On Course To Crack The Top 20 This Week

Break Up (Bye Bye) has clearly made an impression on viewers... and the charts.

In his quest for the UK’s first Drag Race superstar, it seems RuPaul may have also inadvertently unearthed the nation’s next great girl group.

Last week’s episode saw the six remaining acts divided into two rival girl groups – Filth Harmony (brilliant) and The Frock Destroyers (double brilliant) – who were both tasked with putting their own spin on an original song, Break Up (Bye Bye).

Shortly after the episode’s debut, The Frock Destroyers’ version of the song began climbing the iTunes chart, but their chart success seemingly hasn’t ended there.

The Official Charts Company has now shared some early figures ahead of Friday’s chart reveal, and the drag trio are on course to crack the official top 20.

Their song is currently on track to reach number 19, one of three new entries in the top 20, alongside Dua Lipa (2) and Krept And Konan (17).

While The Frock Destroyers each earned a Ru Peter badge for their performance in the girl groups challenge (the first triple win in Drag Race herstory), it was The Vivienne and Crystal who went head to head in the lip sync.

Crystal was eventually sent packing, later telling HuffPost UK that she’d planned to walk even if she’d won, because she felt her competitor had performed so strongly in the rest of the series.

“They didn’t show it, but I said that if I won the lip sync, I wasn’t staying,” she explained. “And I would have left, had I won.

“I felt exhausted, I felt like I’d used up all the reserves of my confidence and strength, and I felt like, at that point, Vivienne was going to win. She had been performing so well, and I didn’t want to take that from her, because I could tell at that point that I wasn’t going to win. So it just didn’t feel right to stay over her.”

New episodes of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK are made available every Thursday at 8pm on BBC Three.
