RuPaul’s Drag Race UK contestant Vinegar Strokes has shared photos of the stunning outfit she’d planned to wear as part of her hometown-inspired runway presentation.
In the first episode of the new series, which debuted on BBC Three on Thursday night, Vinegar and her fellow queens were tasked with putting together a runway inspired by their hometown.
Vinegar – a London-based queen – wound up in the bottom two, after failing to impress the judges with her cut-out of the river Thames, attached to a fairly straight-forward outfit.
A disappointed Alan Carr told her: “I just thought, with all the things in London, you go for the opening scene in EastEnders. You know what I mean?”
Well, after surviving the first lip sync of the season, Vinegar has now revealed that the outfit she wore on the show wasn’t what she originally had in mind, but was unable to go with her first choice, which was inspired by the London Underground.
Posting photos on social media, she revealed: “The Hometown Queen look that never made the runway due to licensing!!”
A BBC spokesperson declined to comment when contacted by HuffPost UK.
While Vinegar survived the first lip sync of the season, competitor Gothy Kendoll wasn’t quite so lucky, and was sent packing by RuPaul at the end of the episode.
Other hometown runway looks included The Vivienne channelling Pete Burns, a rather questionable tribute to Amy Winehouse from Baga Chipz and Sum Ting Wong sporting an outfit inspired by Birmingham’s Bull Ring.
The first episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK is now streaming on BBC Three, with new instalments set to debut every Thursday.
