Rupert Murdoch, bless him, has only just managed to start tweeting. But the under-fire News International boss has waded into his first Twitter nightmare after apparently deleting a potentially offensive tweet.
According to a report on the Sydney Morning Herald, the single rogue tweet on his @rupertmurdoch account said: "Maybe Brits have too many holidays for broke country!'
We can't link to the offending tweet, but some on twitter managed to take a screen grab before it was removed.
It seems Murdoch's comment was also flagged up by his wife Wendi, who is also apparently now on Twitter.
The twitter crime of 2012 has been jumped on by critics such as former deputy prime minister John Prescott who, on hearing of the deletion, tweeted:
There was also head scratching over why the hashtag #murdochdeletstweets was not trending.
Ironically, according to the BBC it is the anniversary of Murdoch winning control of News of the World, and we all know what happened with that!
