The internet is playing an increasing role in family life. With social networking sites launching and changing so often, and homework and school projects often needing a computer to complete, we all need to teach our children about the risks of the internet and online security.
This year's Safer Internet Day aims to do just that, providing help and advice to keep our children safe and secure online, whatever their interests and hobbies.
The Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) Centre - the UK's national centre dedicated to protecting children from harm both online and offline - has launched a special online TV programme to mark Safer Internet Day, to help you and your family stay safe on the web.

Understand steps you can take to keep your children safe online
Know what action to take and where to seek further support if things go wrong
A recent survey by SpectorSoft found 17 per cent of children have experienced cyber bullying, while the CEOP receives over 1,000 reports of child sex abuse a month. Around a quarter of these relate to online grooming.
