Many of us who go to see I Don't Know How She Does It will identify instantly with the time -pressured mum who is desperately trying to balance career, family and her marriage - and resorts to bashing up shop-bought pies for a school bake sale to make them look homemade.
So when a group of mum bloggers from BritMums, the UK's most influential parent blogger network were given the chance to interview the movie's star, Sarah Jessica Parker, we wanted to know whether she thinks it's possible for working mums to have it all.
'My feeling is, we should certainly try,' she told us. 'If your children are content and happy and you've been able to meet their needs and you still have a curiosity outside the home, it would be hard for me to imagine not trying. I think it's a noble pursuit to have a rich complicated life, because I think I'm better for it, and I think my children are better for it.'
She said she'd like to see more flexible working for mums. 'I would love to see corporate life become more flexible in terms of hours, I'd love to see better childcare available. More and more women are working because they have to, in this economic climate, and I'm one of the fortunate people who can bring my children to work and I can dip in and out of work but that's not the case for most working mothers. There's a rigidity to their routine. I think it would be really nice when our daughters are working that they're able to dictate their lives a little more and be the kind of mothers they want to be.'
As far as her own career goes, the mum of three is taking a break for a while . 'I just wanted some time with my kids so I'm not going to be working on a movie for a while. There's nothing compelling enough to take me away from my family.
'When our son James Wilkie was born that's one of the reasons I stopped working on Sex and the City, because that particular series like others required lots and lots of hours. I didn't work for a year. I was so grateful when I was finally home. It was a really important time for my son, when he learned to speak and walk and I'm so glad I was there.'
She also told us that she and husband Matthew Broderick make an effort to make time for each other by going on date nights. 'It's important not only to me and Matthew but it's important to our marriage that we're able to find time for each other and ourselves. We'll plan a date together which involves a meal sitting down across from each other and every time it happens we say to each other 'gosh, this is so nice.''
She revealed she often thinks about what she'd do if she wasn't an actress. 'I'd love to work in ballet in some way, I'd love to work in a museum, I'd love to travel the world.' What she won't be doing any time soon, however, is starting a blog. 'I'm not good at forming a complete sentence. It would be just one long rambling sentence.'
And as far as cheating at school bake sales goes - well, she has her own culinary talent. 'We have a very serious competitive chill-making contest at school and I do have a secret family recipe,' she said. 'But I haven't cheated for a children's birthday party... cupcakes I can do.'
