Sarah Silverman posted a Facebook video on Monday explaining to Americans still infected by a 20th century mindset that the word "socialism" -- as in European-style “social democracy” -- is not code for Soviet gulags.
The comedian is supporting presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, an avowed “democratic socialist” who is challenging Hillary Clinton for the Democratic Party’s nomination.
Allaying the fears of capitalism-obsessed brethren who might think Sanders is bent on stealing their wealth, Silverman explains: “Under President Sanders, don’t worry, you can still become a super-rich asshole. It’s just that your fellow hard-working citizens don’t have to feed their children cat food in order for you to do it.”

The actress describes Sanders’s campaign as a “giant fuck you to the above-the-law billionaire class” and spells out how the candidate's brand of politics make him a "Democrat.”
“He just believes that people who don’t have the same advantages as you and me should be given the same advantages as you and me,” she adds.
