Scarlett Moffatt Reveals Bullying Hell Led To Her Teachers Allowing Her To Leave School Early

Scarlett Moffatt might be feeling on top of the world after being crowned queen of the ‘I’m A Celebrity’ jungle, but she’s revealed life wasn’t always so rosy.

The ‘Gogglebox’ star has opened up about her teenage years, when she suffered at the hands of bullies at school.

In fact it got so bad, that Scarlett was allowed to leave school ten minutes early each day to avoid being beaten up.

She tells The Sun: “From aged 12 I just didn’t like life. I didn’t have the best time, really.

“But if I hadn’t had those experiences at school, then I probably wouldn’t be here. If I had just tried to fit in, I wouldn’t be the weirdo that I am now.”

Scarlett was eventually forced to move schools in Bishops Auckland, Co Durham, and now says she isn’t impressed with how her teachers dealt with the problem.

“The way the school dealt with it was that, ten minutes before the end of the day, I was allowed to leave early so I didn’t get beat up,” she adds.

“I would just walk around Asda’s car park until three o’clock or up until the time I was meant to come home. I just felt so embarrassed to tell my mum and dad.

“I would pretend to my parents that I loved school. Sometimes I would sit in the toilets at breaks just so I didn’t have to wander around the playgrounds on my own.”

The 26-year-old says she was picked on because of the way she looked, after she was left with a drooping face caused by Bell’s Palsy.

She adds: “There was just loads of things. One of the kids also saw me metal detecting with my dad, so you can imagine how that went down.

“I mean, it’s funny now. Jesus, it wasn’t funny when I was going into school. It’s worked out well now, it’s built character.”

Scarlett, who was working as a student disability adviser a year ago, is set to pocket £1million in endorsements and TV deals after being crowned Queen of the Jungle.

First up will be the release of her slimming DVD, ‘Scarlett’s Superslim Me Plan’, which is due to hit the shelves on Boxing Day, and is expected to be one of the year’s biggest sellers.

Scarlett, who already presents her own show on Capital Radio in the North East, is also reportedly at the centre of a bidding war between ITV and Channel 4, who are both keen to sign her up.
