Scarlett Moffatt believes she could be “hated” if she were to take part in Strictly Come Dancing.
The former Gogglebox star has years of dance experience, having competed in ballroom competitions as a child, and claims the public could take issue with this if she were to sign up to the BBC show.
However, it seems that hasn’t put her off the idea of participating, and she’s even picked out a professional partner.
Speaking on ITV’s Lorraine: “I would love it, I feel like because I can already dance, would people hate me for that? I haven’t danced for eight years… sign me up!”
On who she’d like to be paired up with, she added: “I love Anton. I feel like we would have a giggle. I would love it.”
Strictly has included many contestants who have dance backgrounds in recent series, including the likes of Ashley Roberts and Alexandra Burke.
However, as Scarlett pointed out, they have often been the subject of criticism from fans of the show, who think they have an unfair advantage over their fellow competitors.
While Scarlett would arguably have more ballroom experience than any contestant in Strictly history, that hasn’t stopped her being rumoured for the new series.
The same goes for Cheryl Tweedy, who has also been linked to the show, despite appearing as a judge on other BBC dance series The Greatest Dancer.
Other names who have been rumoured to be taking part when Strictly returns to our screens include DJs Chris Evans and Fearne Cotton, comedian Alan Carr and BBC newsreader Huw Edwards.
