A schoolboy has plunged 160ft off a cliff – and lived to tell the tale with just a broken arm.
Callum Cuenca, 15, was on a camping trip with pals when he tumbled over the edge of the cliff top in Hanham, Bristol, after taking a wrong turn.
Despite his predicament, Callum managed to use his mobile phone to call his dad who alerted the emergency services and raced to the scene.
"I was a bit shocked when he said where he was. He told me he was stuck and thought that he had dislocated his arm," shocked Simon Cooper told the Daily Star, adding that the youngster 'seemed more concerned that he had dropped his iPad and rucksack than what had happened to him'.
Mr Cooper said that it was a miracle Callum had survived the fall.
"He was very lucky. Very, very lucky," he said, explaining that Callum was found trapped in trees 160ft down, with a further 50ft drop below him.
"He was meant to be camping with mates and went a different way from the two of them and, because it had been raining, he slipped and went over." Mr Cooper said. "I rushed straight to him and he was dangling about 15ft above me. But he was just laughing and making wisecracks to the people who were rescuing him."
A member of the Avon Fire and Rescue service was lowered down to rescue Callum at around 8.30pm on Wednesday, and spent 90 minutes treating his injuries and freeing him from the undergrowth he'd landed in.
Callum, of Kingswood, Bristol, was taken to hospital after being bundled on to a stretcher and lowered the rest of the way down the cliff.
Jim Yearsly, who witnessed the rescue said Callum was a 'lucky chap': "It's a sheer drop," he said.
