The Russian Foreign Minister has accidentally been referred to as “so gay lover of”, in a subtitle blunder during a Channel 4 report.
Sergey Lavrov, who has said his country's gay ban "protects Russian morals," was the subject of a report discussing a meeting with US Secretary of State John Kerry.
Oops...
Given Russia’s controversial anti-homosexual policies, which have received worldwide condemnation, the irony of subtitle censors picking up Sergey’s name as: “so gay lover of”, was not lost on viewers.
"I wager this was NOT an accident," said Tahmina Mannan on Twitter, while another user posted: "So Gay Lover? Wahaha, Putin will go mental."
Could this subtitle error count as “the promotion of non-traditional relationships”?
