Shane Warne has been handed a one-match suspension and $4,500 fine after a heated exchange with Marlon Samuels during Melbourne Stars' Big Bash encounter with Melbourne Renegades.
Warne was found guilty of making “inappropriate and deliberate physical contact” with Renegades all-rounder Samuels and of using language considered “obscene, offensive or of a generally insulting nature”.
On Twitter, Warne posted nine tweets on his conduct and said Cricket Australia's findings were “harsh".
Liz hasn't made him soft after all
“For me as the Melbourne Stars (captain) I'm very conscious of the image of the game.
“I'm disappointed in some of my actions last night. Also I'm pretty disappointed with the severity of the penalties too.
“I think that was pretty harsh."
Samuels meanwhile has been asked to explain his behaviour after he hurled his bat and has also charged with making inappropriate physical contact.
