Sherrie Hewson bid an emotional farewell to ‘Loose Women’ on Monday (5 September), as she made her final appearance on the panel.
The ‘Benidorm’ star has been a regular on the ITV daytime show for the past 14 years, but announced she was quitting last month.
During her last episode as a panellist, Sherrie shed a lot of tears as she said one last goodbye to viewers and her co-presenters.
She was surprised in the studio by guests including ‘Benidorm’ co-star Jake Canuso, former ‘Coronation Street’ star Kevin Kennedy (Curly Watts), and ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ winner Stephen Bear.
Coleen Nolan also performed the classic ‘Thank You For Being A Friend’ for Sherrie, while Kaye Adams also presented her with a special ‘This Is Your Life’ tribute.
After she was shown a compilation of her best moments over her tenure, she then paid a heartfelt thanks to her fans and co-stars.
“I just want to say a big thank you to everybody here,” she said. “The girls, over all my 14 years, have got me through the very, very bad times and I love them all. They had been so good and so wonderful.
“And thank you mostly to everybody out there who has cared about me, cared about my family, who has watched them grow up, it has been just fantastic, and I thank you so much for everything.
“These girls are what it’s all about. This show is the most wonderful show to be part of. Thank you, girls,” she added.
While Sherrie has now left the show behind, bosses announced that three new faces will be joining the panel on a permanent basis.
Stacey Solomon, Martine McCutcheon and Lisa Riley will now be regular features on the panel, having impressed with guest stints on the show in recent months.
‘Loose Women’ airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
