Sir Alex Ferguson, in his old age, is liable to make the odd error such as when he called Darren Fletcher 'Darren Ferguson' four years ago. But on Saturday he heralded the Dark Knight as he mistakenly named Gareth Bale 'Christian Bale'.
Ferguson was giving a brief pre-match interview ahead of Manchester United's match with Tottenham Hotspur when he aired the gaffe.
"Of course Christian Bale and Aaron Lennon are both quick players," he told ESPN's Rebecca Lowe.
This comes hot off the heels on a recent rumour the Scot referred to new Japanese signing Shinji Kagawa as 'Ji-Sung', mistaking him for former United winger and South Korean Park.
And the remark heralded a dark night for United, as Bale scored one and assisted another in Tottenham's first victory at Old Trafford since 1989.
Mr Wayne (Rooney) and sidekick Robin however, were off target as United searched for an equaliser but were beaten 3-2.
