It can be difficult to keep up with who’s who in Soapland, and the constant arrivals and departures don’t make it any easier.

In 2014, ‘EastEnders’, ‘Corrie’, ‘Hollyoaks’ and ‘Emmerdale’ have all welcomed newcomers, and also waved goodbye to some old favourites.

While many of these changes have given us some of the most memorable television moments of the year, there are certainly more than a few that we’d forgotten about.

The Carter clan have continued their bid to take over Albert Square and at the last count, there were at least 8 of them living in the Queen Vic.

Meanwhile, some characters, such as Verity Rushworth’s Donna Tate returned to our screens, only to leave months after.
