Spain Student Bus Crash: 13 Dead After Coach Overturns On Motorway

A bus carrying university students, including British travellers, has crashed in north-east Spain, killing 13 and injuring 30.

The Press Association initially reported that 14 people have been killed in the crash near the city of Tarragona in the Catalonia region, but reports have now lowered the death toll to 13.

Sky News says that British students are feared to be among the injured after the coach hit a car and overturned on a highway.

Local media reported that the injured were all in their 20s and from Britain, Switzerland, Norway, Turkey, Ukraine and Barcelona. The students were part of the Erasmus exchange programme.

Their coach was on its way back from the Fallas fireworks festival in Valencia when the crash occurred.

The Catalan president, Carles Puigdemont, has announced two days of mourning after the incident.
