People all over the world have been celebrating the national holiday of a country that's not their country.
Revellers have gathered in places hundreds of thousands of miles from the country to celebrate its patron saint, despite not being from this country, living there or having any blood relatives who are from there. Some are unable to point it out on a map; while others had never even worn a huge green hat before.
When asked why they were celebrating, most people told HuffPost UK Comedy that they "liked any excuse for a party" and "wanted to enjoy the craic - whatever that is."
