If you're not a Star Trek fan, chances are you won't remember who George Takei is. So if you're not in the know, here's the skinny: George Takei played Hikaru Sulu, helmsman of the USS Starship Enterprise, and is now famous for his gay rights and Japanese/American relations work.
But really, you don't need to worry about all that - you just have to watch this astonishing video of him dancing. Recorded to thank his fans for donating money for his Japanese American Broadway show, Allegiance, Takei takes the time to say just that, then swiftly get his groove on.
His moves, for want of a better phrase, are out of this world. You'd think we'd be better than to go and make that 'joke', but we couldn't resist. Sorry.
What's so delightful about it all is how he has to ask his husband for permission, and then when he does do it, he pops his hands into a double Vulcan salute, Spock-stylee.
The man's a hero, basically. But despite this extraordinary video, is he as good as these jumbotron rug-cutters? Let us know in the comment box below.
