An extended trailer for JJ Abram's sci-fi sequel, 'Star Trek Into Darkness', has been released.
The promo serves up previously unseen footage and is twice the length of the teaser that appeared last week.
It focuses on Chris Pine's Captain Kirk and the film's mysterious villain, played by 'Sherlock' star Benedict Cumberbatch.
Cumberbatch plays John Harrison, "a one-man terrorist, who does despicable things for a noble cause" - a character he is hoping will elicit sympathies, despite his capacity to be a "one-man weapon of mass destruction and psychological warfare".
The follow-up to 2009's 'Star Trek' is scheduled for release on 17 May 2013. The cast also includes Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, Zoe Saldana, John Cho and Alice Eve.
