Amal Alamuddin looked like she was born to be a bride when she wed George Clooney. Resplendent in Oscar de la Renta. The human rights lawyer looked undeniably chic and stylish.
If you like the idea of following in her footsteps, it is important to think chic, understated and classic. Like The Duchess of Cambridge, lace played an important part in Amal's wedding dress.
The off the shoulder style with embroidered pearls and diamanté detail, was a sight to behold. Slightly demure in style, Amal's gown reflected the 'ladylike' bridal trend that The Duchess of Cambridge also championed when she wore her Alexander McQueen bridal dress.
'Finally! A bride in the public eye chooses real wow style, classically timeless yet with personality to it. Amal Alamduddin's Oscar de la Renta gown screams chicness. A favourite with Niemierko Brides Mr. de la Renta always gets it spot on. I don't think we've seen as inspiring a dress since the Duchess of Cambridge's Alexander McQueen gown,' says Mark Niemierko, luxury event and wedding planner.
Make-up artist Jules Cardozo-Marsh took time out from her busy schedule to give her verdict on Amal's make up.
'Looking back over the 3 day wedding extravaganza I can't help being a little bit obsessed with the new Mrs Clooney, not only does she not put a foot wrong in the fashion stakes but, she knows how to rock a statement lip!
I know she may have had access to the worlds finest make-up artists (I was busy before you ask) ... cue my girl crush Charlotte Tilbury. I adore Charlotte's new make-up range and I have had the pleasure of meeting Charlotte and talking make-up. Now, as to what would she have applied on Mrs Clooney?
Amal has an amazing bone structure and well defined cheek bones, clearly she is blessed with a clear complexion and not a blemish in sight, so for a sheer radiant glow, I'm guessing Charlotte would have applied her amazing 'Magic Cream' this is fabulous for tired, dehydrated skin and gives skin a luminous and youthful glow. Get the blood pumping by massaging into the skin and don't forget the neck and décolletage. It's not cheap but definitely worth the price tag of £70.
For a cheaper alternative try award winning Cosmetics à la Carte's Rose Dew Moisturising Primer (£35) I love this light, oil free cream and it's a staple in my kit.
Amal clearly doesn't need anything heavier than a light foundation and most of my bridal clients want that radiant, luminous glow. Charlotte's foundation fits the bill perfectly, Light Wonder comes in 10 easy to pick shades and contains an SPF15 (£32). Blend by applying with a foundation brush for a seamless coverage not forgetting to blend into the neck.
Having scrutinised the pictures of the happy couple in Hello! (several times,) Amal has kept her look as make up similar to how she normally wears it, it but it's an enhanced, perfectly applied version. Emphasis should be kept to the eyes or the lips and Amal has played up her huge eyes by applying an eye palette, Vintage Vamp. Start by priming the eye area with the lightest colour and then focus colour on the outer corner of the eye by gradually building up to the required look. Blending is key so use a clean brush to gently blend out the colour.
Colour has been taken under the eye to give a natural smokey look but keep it to the outer corner only to make it soft.
For added definition apply eyeliner close to the lash line and smudge, finish with lashings of black mascara (make sure it's waterproof). CT's Full Fat Lashes, £22, is amazing as it curls, lengthens and defines.
One palette really worth investing in is Studio10's Visible Lift Face Definer, £30, it works like a mini facelift by defining, contouring and highlighting the face. Use the crėme highlighter under the brow bone and like Amal apply a pop of blush to the cheeks for a flush of colour.
To finish Amal's bridal look, she chose a lipstick that complemented the rest of the make-up. When she wore the Alexander McQueen dress before her wedding, she chose a bold red lip that was perfect for the colour of the gown.
Remember that a hint of colour works great with a smokey eye and as she has such a lovely skin tone, Amal can carry off a slightly lighter or darker lipstick shade. Try Charlotte's Matte Revolution lipstick in Walk of Shame (£23).
