Steph McGovern has announced she’s temporarily putting the brakes on her Channel 4 talk show, so she can reclaim her home.

The Steph Show was commissioned before the country went on lockdown, but by the time it came to air it, the government had introduced restrictions, meaning Channel 4 decided to have the presenter film it from her family house, and conduct interviews via video-link.

For the last few weeks, the show has been well-received, but Steph has now revealed plans to put it on ice, so she can “give my family their home back”.

As much as I’ve loved doing a lockdown show at home I never expected it to go on this long,” she revealed on Twitter.

“We’ve decided it’s time to have a break and give my family our home back.”

Steph joked: “The proper programme will be launching when the Leeds studio is sorted, I may still be wearing slippers.”

She went on to reveal that the last lockdown version of The Steph Show will air on Thursday 7 May, with the series getting a proper launch “in a couple of months”.

It’s been an extremely busy few months for Steph, not just landing her own Channel 4 talk show, but also becoming a mother.

She gave birth to a baby girl in November 2019, and has been balancing being a new parent with landing her own show, and having cameras dotted around her family home.

In addition to this, Steph guest hosted the first edition of Have I Got News For You since lockdown measures were introduced last month, which received a lukewarm response from viewers.
