Stormzy Lays Into Boris Johnson (And Bigs Up Idris Elba) In New Vossi Bop Music Video

"F*** the government and f*** Boris," he's heard rapping.

Stormzy has made his long-awaited return to the music scene, with the release of his new single Vossi Bop.

Since his performance at the 2018 Brit Awards, where his debut release Gang Signs & Prayer was named Best British Album, Stormzy has been keeping a relatively low profile, but on Friday, unveiled his new single and music video.

And we’re glad to say, he’s on his usual fine form.

The Vossi Bop music video sees Stormzy posing in various locations around London, beginning on Westminster Bridge, with the Houses Of Parliament visible in the background.

Later in the clip, he’s seen standing outside the Royal Exchange, where he declares: “I can never die, I’m Chuck Norris. Fuck the government and fuck Boris.”

To really get his point across, during this line dancers in Boris Johnson-esque blond wigs and clutching briefcases creep in, before taking off their hairpieces and throwing them to the floor.

One man Stormzy does have time for, though, is Idris Elba, who he references in the lyric: “Now may I ask if you can find it in your spirit, to leave us all alone and go and mind your fuckin’ business.

“Lookin’ in the mirror, sayin’ “Michael you’re the illest” when I’m James Bond, tryna live my movie like I’m Idris.”

Shortly after the shout-out, the Luther star makes a brief cameo, bopping alongside Stormzy in matching black suits.

Stormzy’s new single comes ahead of his headlining slot at this year’s Glastonbury festival.

While promoting his first album, Stormzy repeatedly used his platform to shine a light on important political issues, most notably during his aforementioned Brits performance.

During his closing performance, which incorporated his hits Blinded By Your Grace Pt. 2 and Big For Your Boots, Stormzy delivered a free-style rap, calling out institutional racism and lambasting Theresa May for the way she handled the Grenfell Tower tragedy.
