She told the host: “I am not a dancer. I am looking forward to having fun doing something I have never done before.

“I am looking forward to Salsa, I think I have a 28-year-old Latina trapped inside my body.”

“I’m a total ‘10’ on the level of excitement and definitely a ‘10’ scared!” she continued. “Seriously though, I can’t wait to get started.

“Taking part in ‘Strictly’ is a dream, it’s such a new challenge for me I’ve never done anything like this before so I hope I pull it off.

“I’ve got a lot of training to do before I’m twinkle toes so I’m eager to get my partner and get going! I’m ready.”

So far, this year’s Strictly’ line-up is looking like one of their best yet, and Anastacia will be competing against stars including Ed Balls, Will Young and BBC Breakfast presenter Naga Munchetty.

Laura Whitmore will also be fighting it out in a bid to win the Glitterball Trophy, along with Daisy Lowe, former ‘Hollyoaks’ actor Danny Mac, Louise Redknapp, Ore Oduba and Melvin Odom.
