'Strictly Come Dancing' 2016: Will Young Is Latest Rumoured Contestant To Join Line-Up

The former 'Pop Idol' is swapping singing for dancing.

Will Young has become the latest star to be linked to the new series of 'Strictly Come Dancing'.

Reports claim the original 'Pop Idol' winner is set to take to the dance floor when the BBC ballroom show returns later this year.

Will apparently impressed bosses when he performed single 'Joy' on the show last year, and showed off his nifty footwork alongside the professional dancers.

A source told the Daily Express they are hoping he will also face off against acid-tongued judge Craig Revel Horwood.

Will shot to fame when he won 'Pop Idol' in 2002, and went on to enjoy huge chart success with hits such as 'Leave Right Now', 'Light My Fire' and 'Jealousy'.

While the official 'Strictly' line-up is not expected to be announced until next month, a number of stars have already been rumoured to be taking part.

Louise Redknapp reportedly signed up for the show earlier this week, while daytime TV star Judge Rinder, TV presenter Angelica Bell, Bucks Fizz singer Cheryl Baker, ‘Downton Abbey’ actress Michelle Dockery, TV presenter Laura Whitmore and US singer Anastacia are also said to be getting their dancing shoes on.

There are also changes afoot for the line-up of professional dancers, after Gleb Savchenko followed Ola Jordan, Aliona Viliani, Kristina Rihanoff, and Tristan MacManus by quitting the show.

They will be replaced by three new pros, while Joanne Clifton will also return.

'Strictly Come Dancing' returns to BBC One in the autumn.
