Piers Morgan Grills Strictly's AJ Pritchard And Saffron Barker About 'Curse' In Awkward Interview

The Good Morning Britain host also quizzed Saffron about her YouTube career, admitting he had no idea why she was famous.

Piers Morgan was his usual charming self when he met Strictly Come Dancing’s AJ Pritchard and Saffron Barker in an interview that began with him questioning whether she was actually famous – before ending with him asking if they’d been “at it” behind the scenes.

Wednesday’s Good Morning Britain saw the pair sitting down with Piers and Susanna Reid to talk about their time on the show, but what they presumably weren’t expecting was the grilling they actually got.

Before AJ and Saffron had even entered the studio, Piers declared: “Who are they? I don’t watch Strictly. I don’t know who these people are. Were they on Love Island?”

Susanna then made the mistake of pointing out that AJ’s brother Curtis Pritchard did actually appear on Love Island this year, to which her co-host said: “We’ve got the brother of someone in Love Island, that’s a big coup, isn’t it? Anyone’s dogs from Love Island available?”

Things didn’t exactly get any warmer when Piers and Susanna kicked off the interview, with the former asking YouTuber Saffron exactly what it was she did for a living.

“I am a 19-year-old YouTuber. A YouTuber is someone who creates their own content online,” she attempted to explain.

When she failed Piers’ next test (to “make him laugh”), AJ attempted to change the subject to Strictly, but things then took another turn when the presenter quizzed them about the nature of their relationship.

“Are you two at it yet like all the Strictly couples? “ Piers demanded. “You all do it sooner or later. Don’t tell me you haven’t tried.”

As the pair told Piers – in sync, no less – that their relationship was solely dance-focussed, AJ then reminded viewers that he had a girlfriend, which prompted the host to declare: “You’re punching [above your weight].”

“Is she not worried about you guys nestling into each other for hours on end every day?’ Piers added. “We all know what happens.”

AJ held his own though, insisting: “It’s the profession, Piers. Obviously if you want to make it work, you obviously do 12 hours a day in the studio.

“You want to do fantastic for 12 million people live on Saturday night. You work hard.”

After a fairly strong start in the competition, AJ and Saffron found themselves at fifth place in the overall leaderboard after the last live show.

The pair will be tackling the Paso Doble during Saturday’s Movie Week show, in a routine inspired by The Hunger Games.
