Danny Mac has brushed off any concerns about the so-called ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ “curse”, insisting that he and fiancée Carley Stenson are spending plenty of time together while he’s taking part in the current series.
During the years that ‘Strictly’ has been on the air, a number of celebrity contestants - and professional dancers - have ended their relationship while competing in the show, with many ending up dating the star they’ve been partnered with.
However, former ‘Hollyoaks’ actor Danny clearly isn’t worried that could be the case for him and Carley, even revealing that she’s even moved down to London to be with him during his time on the show.
He tells The Sun: “I talk to Carley about any job and we decide what’s good for us, about where we’re going to live and how long for. Doing ‘Strictly’ was a positive thing. We both live in London while I’m doing this.
“We’ve been together five years, we’re engaged and past relationships don’t really have an effect upon us, so we’re just looking forward.”
Carley, meanwhile, has some experience of the “curse”, having had her relationship with past contestant Ricky Whittle end shortly after his time on ‘Strictly’.
Danny has been partnered with Oti Mabuse for this year’s ‘Strictly’, with the two getting huge praise from the judges for their performances so far, making them hot favourites for victory this year.
Meanwhile, fellow contestant Greg Rutherford recently also spoke about the ‘Strictly’ curse, revealing it’s not something that concerns him either.
‘Strictly’ returns on Saturday (8 October) on BBC One.
