ITV Plan To 'Blow 'Strictly Come Dancing' Out Of The Water' With New Rival Show

Somehow we think not...

After being repeatedly thrashed by ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ in the ratings battle for the past couple of years, ITV are reportedly planning to launch their own dance show in the coming months.

According to The Sun, the channel plan on launching ‘Dance Dance Dance’ early next year, in an attempt to “blow ‘Strictly’ out of the water”.

The show will see a host of celebrity contestants teaming up with someone close to them and… well… the title ‘Dance Dance Dance’ speaks for itself.

It’s probably going to be really different to ‘Stepping Out’, then, ITV’s short-lived reality show that saw celebrity pairs competing in the field of… dancing. Or ‘Dancing On Ice’, where celebrities threw on their skates and learned to… erm… dance.

Hmmmm...

While ‘Strictly’ deals specifically with ballroom, it’s been claimed that ‘Dance Dance Dance’ will see celebrity pairs tackling iconic dance routines (not like ‘Let’s Dance For Comic Relief’, then), complete with special effects to “create a 3D world around the performance”.

‘Dance Dance Dance’ has already proved to be a hit in The Netherlands, prompting ITV to buy the format at the end of last year.

Filming is expected to begin at the end of this year, while ‘Strictly’ will be back for a new series in the autumn.
