The ‘EastEnders’ actor and his professional partner, Janette Manrara, ended up in the bottom two on Sunday night alongside Mark Wright and Karen Hauer.

However, despite being a favourite of both viewers and the judges, Jake was sent home in the semi-finals, after his two routines failed to impress the British public.

As head judge, Len Goodman once again had the deciding vote, admitting that he found the decision “very difficult”, but ultimately saying: “One was totally performance driven, the other was more about artistry and this is for me the toughest of all but I’m going to save Mark and Karen.”

Jake confessed that he was “hugely disappointed” to have fallen at the last hurdle before next week’s live final, but went on to say he was proud of his progress throughout the competition.

He added: “For a 42-year-old dad of two, who’s never danced before, Janette has worked wonders. It’s been a real privilege to watch her work and she’s so passionate about what she does that it’s infectious. I’d like to thank all the people at home who voted - it’s just meant the world.”

It was a difficult week for Mark and Karen, after she broke down in tears during the judges’ critiques on Saturday night.

The former ‘TOWIE’ cast member is now one of four celebrities in the running for this year’s glitter-ball trophy, alongside Frankie Bridge, Caroline Flack and Simon Webbe.
