Strictly Come Dancing Star Jamie Laing's Hercules Performance Had A Less-Than-Heroic Ending

Unfortunately, the ending of this Hercules routine was a bit of a Greek tragedy.

Strictly Come Dancing star Jamie Laing bounced back from being in the first dance-off of the series last week with a heroic routine inspired by Disney’s Hercules.

Jamie and his professional partner Karen Hauer paid homage to the 90s animated classic during Movie Week with a Charleston routine set to the song Zero To Hero.

However, the end of their performance came close to a Greek tragedy.

The pair closed their routine with a lift, but while Jamie had no problems raising his partner up, getting her down again proved to be a bit of an issue for them…

Fortunately, Jamie and Karen shrugged off that minor blip, and managed to impress the judges all the same.

The duo won their highest score of the series by far for the Charleston, pulling in 23 of a possible 30 points.

Last week, the Made In Chelsea star had to fight to hold onto his place in the competition, but was spared by the judges, while home secretary Jacqui Smith who was sent packing.

Movie Week saw Ranvir Singh topping the leaderboard for the first time, bagging the highest score of the series for any contestant with her Foxtrot to the Dreamgirls track Love You I Do.

Unfortunately, it was a rather different story for former NFL star Jason Bell, who picked up just 12 points for his Star Wars-inspired Paso Doble.

Other stand-outs from the night included Bill Bailey’s Paso Doble – which put him in second place with the judges’ scores – and Max George’s Simpsons transformation, which sparked a lot of conversation online.

Find out which of the 11 remaining couples found themselves in the dreaded dance-off in Sunday’s Strictly results show, airing at 7.25pm on BBC One.
