A student was wedged in a rather awkward position after getting stuck down a drain in Dover trying to fish out her phone - with her feet.

Firefighters were called to the bizarre rescue mission to free the 16-year-old, who is believed to attend Astor College for the Arts, in Kent, according to the Kent Online.

The girl, who was named by one student who witnessed the fiasco as Ella-anne, was hoisted to safety by two firemen.

The teenager was not hurt in the incident, which happened at 7.15pm on Wednesday, although her pride may have been left slightly wounded.
