Student Upstarts, an organisation aiming to support student entrepreneurs, is holding an October meetup on the 23rd October. Student Upstarts was founded in 2012 with the aim of investing up to £15,000 in 100 student businesses by the end of 2015. They have the aim of identifying the next generation of student entrepreneurs and providing them with investment, support and advice to allow them to become the business leaders of the future.

Student Upstarts is willing to invest up to £15,000 in exchange for up to 8% equity in the company. They rely on one key criterion which is that at least one member of the team must be a full-time student at UK or European higher education institute or have graduated from one within the last twelve months.

The organisation is co-founded by Matthew Stafford and Christian Jakenfelds. Matthew is a project leader at Pembridge Partnership, a financial advisory firm to entrepreneurs, and co-founder of the tech dining club 9others. Christian is a consultant at Imperial Entrepreneurs and ha spent time at McKinsey & Company, Countever and Odgers Berndston.
