It's fortunate there are people out there who have the time and inclination to patch together 50,000 photographs of New York - because this incredible video is the result.
Made by Andrew “Drew” Geraci of District 7 media it shows the Big Apple in stunning detail.
The team behind it are no stranger to time-lapse videos having already given Maryland and Washington DC the treatment.
The film took six months to shoot and they had to put up with freezing temperatures and irate police - but it was worth it.
It was filmed using four Canon 5D Mark III's, a Canon 16-35mm f/2.8, a Canon 24-105mm f/4 and a Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 II.
