Mnet's new wedding reality show "The Wedding Bash(ers)" is coming to a TV near you this Sunday and it promises to be one helluva party.

The show, which will feature 22 weddings over 12 episodes, has an all-star celebrity team of experts (The Bash[ers]) who each week will secretly rate the weddings in various fields.

Celebrity chef Siba Mtongana will be the food police while media personality Denise Zimba will judge the entertainment value of each wedding. Former Miss SA and businesswoman, Cindy Nell, will be all about the fashion. Celebrity wedding planner Zavion Kotze will check out the decor.

The personalities will rate each wedding and the scores will be announced in the show. In addition, each of the Bash(ers) will give an overall experience score, which will go hidden into the ultimate wedding gift. It'll only be unwrapped at the end of the season to reveal the winner. The overall experience scores trump all other scores.

The couple with the highest overall experience score will win the title of wedding of the season and walk away with prizes over R800,000, including a seven-night honeymoon in the Seychelles and jewellery to the value of over R100,000.

The show is co-produced by Gavin Wratten and Proverb, real name Tebogo Thekisho.

During a media screening of the show at the Saxon Hotel on Wednesday, Wratten said his team set out to create an original South African story never before seen.

"We wanted to create a show that would highlight weddings from the perspective of the guests and we've been happy with how it's gone. It's a great show we've got lined up," Wratten said.

Mtongana said she was saddened to note how the catering industry had not yet evolved.

She remarked caterers were quick to offer options that were the easiest options for themselves, by encouraging couples to go for buffet meals instead of a la carte menu options which are trendier.

The show premieres at 5pm so get your Sunday best ready and keep your notepad close by to take some notes!
