Toddlers Seriously Injured After Motorbike Crashes Into Their Pushchair

Two toddlers were seriously injured when a motorbike crashed into a pushchair today.

Police and the ambulance service were called to Camberwell Way, Sunderland, at 10.52am to reports that the boy and girl, both aged 18 months, had been injured, along with a woman aged 26.

The infants were taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital where their condition was said to be "serious".

A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said: "Police received a report that a motorbike had crashed into a woman with a pushchair in the road."

Police have appealed for witnesses, and closed the road while inquiries were carried out.

"Officers are also informing the next of kin and providing support to family members," the spokeswoman said.
