Former 'EastEnders' star Lacey Turner (first left) plays Stella, a "headstrong" career-minded witch, in ITV2's new upbeat drama about four young twenty somethings living in London's Camden town.
The contemporary supernatural series also stars Hannah Tointon of 'The Inbetweeners', Nina Toussaint-White and Phoebe Fox, and has female friendship at its core.
We caught up with former soap star Turner at the press launch of the show to find out how she got involved and why she keeps picking such other-worldly roles since her dramatic departure from Walford...
You seem to be very into supernatural spiritual types of dramas lately...
"It's just quite different to the stuff I've done before and I've taken a sudden interest in the supernatural. 'Being Human' was where it started, I'd never really been into ghost and vampire things before.
"Then I went on to do 'Bedlam' and now this. But this is a bit different, it's nice to do something about witches as you don't tend to see things about them. The last thing I remember watching was 'Practical Magic' with Sandra Bullock. It's funny as well as a little bit dark."
What do you think attracts girls to the supernatural? Is it the 'Twilight' effect?
"It's just the excitement of it, it's not in your day-to-day life. You don't know that much about it and you can just play with it. You can take it as far as you want because it isn't necessarily real."
How like your character are you in real life?
"I'm probably a little bit like Stella. I am quite headstrong, but I'm not as balsy as her - I couldn't just come out with the things she comes out with. I couldn't tell my boss to f-off! But there are little things about her that I like, and I can come across as quite bossy and panicky and frantic. She's sort of a more confident version of me, which is quite nice to play."
What's next for you?
"I am doing something for the BBC but I don't know if I'm allowed to tell you more."
'Switch' begins Monday, 15 October at 10pm on ITV2.
