Take That kicked off their first ever tour as a three-piece last night, after shedding two members in the time since their last outing.

The band took to the stage in Glasgow for the first date of their imaginatively-titled ‘Take That Live’ tour, where they whizzed through their hits including ‘Back For Good’, ‘Pray’ and ‘Rule The World’.

Of course, the show was every bit as elaborate as we’ve all come to expect from Take That, and at one point saw Gary Barlow circling around the arena in a flying tandem, complete with a sidecar for Mark Owen and Howard Donald.

The impressive show, which will play over 30 dates in Britain throughout May and June, before heading to the rest of Europe, also includes a circle of fire and indoor rain, though presumably not at the same time.

And while we’re pleased to see the singers have, perhaps wisely, decided to ditch the identical suits they wore while promoting their single ‘These Days’, we’re still not completely sold on the brightly-coloured garb they could be seen performing in on tour.

Giving it some serious face

Take That remained adamant that, while they supported Jason’s decision to leave, it didn’t mean the end for the band, and they released their latest album ‘III’ in the months that followed.
