Eggstravagant Tank Sculpture

This tank might look like a sturdy piece of military kit but it wouldn't be much use in battle.

The Challenger II vehicle is made from 5,016 egg boxes and took 512 hours to make.

It has been built to celebrate the launch of Eggs for Soldiers' national egg and spoon race on 4 March to raise money for Help for Heroes.

Sculptor Stuart Murdoch's creation used 26 litres of glue, 10,100 nails, 15 litres of paint, 80 square metres of steel and 5,013 staples.

People can run their own fundraising egg and spoon races by registering at bmycharity.com or can head to Clapham Common in London for the family eggstravaganza on 4 March where the tank will be on display to the general public.
