Tattoos are divisive. On one hand, you have Mick Jagger saying: "I've managed to avoid tattoos so far." On the other, you have Christian Louboutin saying: "I realized that it's not only just a part of pop culture, but a bit of a map on someone's body, which says something about people. A part of their life, like an armor or a crest."
Whatever your opinion, tattoos are ingrained in modern culture and they no longer mean the things they used to. Getting a tattoo isn't macho, it isn't rock and roll, it isn't subversive. It can be all or none of those things.
