This week's student musician is Taylor Amy Crosby (stage name - Aimee), who is a 20-year-old student at De Montfort University studying Performing Arts.
How long have you been playing?
I have been singing ever since I could hold a microphone. I grew up in a musical theatre background, gradually gaining a passion for singing as myself, and not as a character!
What genre of music do you play?
I sing Hip-Hop/ R'n'B, but also enjoy singing acoustic covers, and ballads
Why did you start playing?
It came naturally. I always loved being in the spotlight as a toddler, and I guess I took this as the perfect opportunity.

What’s your most memorable musical moment?
Being signed to MOR MUSIC GROUP
What’s your dream?
To perform in front of millions of people, and share my musical love and inspiration.
Who’s your idol and who would you most compare yourself to? (Dead or alive...)
I would have to say Beyonce is my musical idol - that woman is invincible. Her dance moves, vocals that reach Mount Everest, and a baby under her arms now - talk about multi –tasking.
I can't really compare myself to other to people. I'm me, if I had to, it would have to my mum. We have the same laugh.
If you could play with anyone, who would it be?
I'd love to sing with Madonna, and do a re-make of “Vogue”. Just to dress up, and do the dance moves. Plus it’s Madonna.
If you could play at any festival, which would it be?
I went to Bestival last year, and it was an amazing festival. Not just for the music, but for the fashion, art, comedy, and culture. I think music brings all of these together, and is a celebration of all of these things. Stevie Wonder has headlined, and it was a once in a lifetime performance to watch. I am going again this year, and looking forward to seeing Elton John headline for the 10th anniversary.
Who are your fans?
I'd like to think I target a broad range of fans; it depends on what I am doing. If I am performing Hip-hop, or R'n'B that’s going to target a younger fan base. However, if I am singing at a wedding, and doing ballads/covers would get my Nan and her friends dancing around.
What’s your all time favourite song?
That’s a hard question. How can you have an all-time favorite song when music surrounds you everyday?
Here’s my top 5:
Running - Jessie Ware
Smash into You - Beyoncé
Lost without you - Robin Thicken
Leanne La Haves - Lost & Found
Dreams - Fleetwood Mac
