Parents could be left with childcare 'chaos' in the school holidays if head teachers are allowed to decide their own term dates, it has been claimed.
The BBC reports that mums and dads are left worried about how they will manage if they have children at different schools and end up with different term calenders for their children.
The government wants to let state schools in England choose their own terms dates and holidays from September 2015. Currently, local councils set the dates, although academies and free-schools already make their own arrangements.
The BBC says that under the new scheme, some schools might choose to divide the academic year into six short terms, separated by two week holidays, with no half terms, and a shorter summer break.
What do you think? Would these proposals bring chaos to your household?
