A teenager armed with guns and explosives planned to repeat the Columbine high school massacre by carrying out a terror attack on his former school, a cinema and a mosque.
The Old Bailey heard that Michael Piggin, who was 16 at the time, stockpiled petrol bombs, air rifles, pistols and armour in his bedroom which he planned to use in attacks in Loughborough, Leicestershire.
The teenager, who has Asperger's syndrome, had drawn up a hit list that included his college, a mosque, a cinema, Loughborough University and the town's council offices.
He allegedly scrawled Nazi slogans and had a Swastika flag on his wall.
He allegedly wrote: "There's too many Muslims in the UK, we must stop them coming over here. Send the ones already here back home before they take over."
On a dictaphone he added: "I'm ready to die for my cause."
He also allegedly drew a cartoon of where knives, a gun and bombs would be hidden in a trench coat.Max Hill QC, prosecuting, called him a 'would-be terrorist'.
He said: "He has extreme views and until his arrest he was serious about putting them in action."
Piggin, from Loughborough, Leicestershire, was arrested last February. He and two 18-year-olds who cannot be named have admitted possessing petrol bombs and pipe bombs.
He denies possessing articles for a purpose connected with terrorism and documents that are likely to be useful to a person preparing an act of terrorism.
The plot has echoes of both Columbine – the Colorado high school where pupils Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris shot 13 dead in 1999 – and the atrocities in Norway in 2011 when Anders Breivik murdered 77 people.
Piggin's trial continues.
