A 13-year-old boy has been discovered alive in the ruins of a collapsed building five days after a powerful earthquake struck Turkey.
Rescue workers pulled Ferhat Tokay out of the wreckage, 108 hours after the quake hit the town of Ercis, eastern Turkey, bringing hope for finding a few more survivors. At least 570 people have died following the 7.2 magnitude earthquake.
The boy was put in a neck brace immediately and taken to hospital.
"It is a great miracle," the boy's 34-year-old mother told Reuters. "He told me he prayed and when he said all his prayers and there were no more left he recited the national anthem."
He is the latest young survivor to lift public spirits in Turkey, after a baby girl was found alive after two days in the rubble.
